Africa Youth Forum 2024 | Promoting Social Cohesion Through Consensus Building

The Africa Youth Forum, held on 15th August 2024 at the United Nations Office in Nairobi, Kenya, brought together a diverse assembly of 382 delegates, including leaders, policymakers, youth advocates, and other stakeholders, to explore and advance youth-led solutions for transformative change. The forum was attended by representatives from all 47 Kenyan counties and 6 African countries—Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Notably, 72% of the delegates were between the ages of 18 and 35, and 42% of the delegates were women, highlighting the forum's commitment to inclusivity and gender representation. The event centered around breaking barriers and amplifying youth voices through constructive dialogue, with a strong emphasis on sustainable development.

The Youth Café Is Part Of The IEBC Youth Coordinating Committee On Elections

The Youth Coordinating Committee for Elections having been launched with the obligation to enhance youth participation in the electoral process, it is imperative to enhance the capacity of this committee to be able to carry out its mandate as per the aspirations shared by the commission. The Y.C.C. draws its membership from youth focused and youth-serving organizations across the country and will use these existing structures to conduct voter education and mobilization of young people to register as voters ahead of the general elections in 2022.

Since one of our key focus areas at The Youth Café, as highlighted by our Theory of Change is Environmental Preservation and Climate change, we are delighted to be attending a virtual workshop session to be held on July 19, 2021 as part of the second phase of the project. According to the three-year strategic plan, The Youth Café seeks to build a world on the collective principles of solidarity, justice, equity, universality, inclusion, human rights, diversity, and the integrity of the planet. Founded in 2012, the Kenyan Based NPO aims to model, inform, and advance youth-led approaches to sustainable development, environmental stewardship, social equity, democratic governance, and economic viability by making use of innovative research, media, policy, advocacy, as well as cross-cultural and intergenerational partnerships. To date, the organization has reached 1.6 million young people across Africa.
