“My Digital World” is a Meta Digital Literacy Program aimed at equipping social media users with knowledge, skills, and competencies on verifying and handling Misinformation and Disinformation While taking full benefit of what these online spaces offer. Within this context, The Youth Cafe collaborated with iEARN to deliver ‘MY DIGITAL WORLD’ training to The Youth Cafe Youth Network. Hosted by iEARN on the Zoom platform, the training attracted 115 youths who registered to participate in the session. The training occurred on December 5, 2023, at 2 pm EAT.
International Day of Democracy 2023 | Empowering The Next Generation
The Youth Café, in collaboration with other partners, participated in the planning and execution of the International Day of Democracy celebration. The event took place on the 15th of September, 2023 at the National Museum, Nairobi. The event aimed at raising awareness, encouraging citizen participation, and fostering discussions on democratic governance and its impact on society.

On 25 May 2023, The Youth Cafe Collaborated with OHCHR DESIB in a virtual Youth Engagement Session: This 90 minutes webinar session brought together youth from different countries and backgrounds in a dialogue to identify barriers to implementing economic, social, and cultural rights and approaches to operationalize these rights as a framework for addressing local and global challenges; raise awareness of the young people across the world about economic, social and cultural rights; promote initiatives and diverse implications of the youth; and to strengthen the linkages between the youth-led organizations.
The Youth Café Empowers Youth Through Participatory Budgeting To Enhance Accountability And Transparency
The Youth Café (TYC) is a trailblazer in youth empowerment in Kenya, utilizing Participatory Budgeting (PB) to drive accountability, transparency, and good governance. Through its innovative PB approach, TYC has successfully mobilized over 76,000 young people across 12 counties, empowering them to take part in crucial budgetary decisions. With a staggering $3 million USD allocated through this process, TYC has set a new standard for how public resources can be managed effectively and ethically when young people are at the helm. This initiative not only empowers youth to influence public resource allocation but also transforms them into vigilant custodians of government accountability, ensuring public funds are directed toward community-driven solutions.

The Youth Café was invited for a 3-day Collaborative Futures Workshop, which is a hybrid hackathon and fellowship designed to help you, and fellow social justice organizations and leaders envision ways that emerging creative technology can expand your impact, understand how new technologies will shape your work and how we can change these technologies, and learn how to act on this knowledge in partnership with East Africa's boldest creatives and technologists using a Do It Yourself (DIY) ethos and active collaboration.
The Youth Café In A Mobile Clinics Meeting At The Border Police Unit Headquarters.
On Tuesday the 11th of January 2022, The Youth Café members were thrilled to be part of another pre-mobile clinic meeting held at the Border Police Unit headquarters in Kanyonyoo, Kitui County. The US Army officials are initiating the mobile clinic project at the Border Police Unit headquarters to promote the Border Police Unit and the work they do for the communities around for better relations and collaborations between the police officers and members of the community.

Between 3rd and 5th of March 2020, the Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) and The Youth Café met to share innovative communication strategies and dissemination approaches at the Municipal Partnership Programme Dissemination conference. The conference was held at the Gelian Hotel in Machakos, Kenya, and was attended by five municipal partnerships between Sweden, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
