The SDG Village served as a focal point for high-level discussions on sustainable development, addressing a wide array of topics critical to attaining the SDGs. These included collaborative democracy for sustainable development, county engagements on SDGs, financing strategies with a gender perspective, and the nexus between human rights and SDG realisation. Additionally, the role of various stakeholders, such as parliamentarians, innovation startups, and media, in combating climate change and supporting climate innovation was explored. Discussions also revolved around accelerating gender equality and women’s economic empowerment, assessing progress on specific SDGs, and identifying policy and legal barriers to their achievement. Political parties’ involvement in localising SDGs was another significant area of focus.

The Hekima Village at the People Dialogue Festival offered a unique space for intergenerational dialogue, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to share experiences and foster enhanced communication and understanding. Throughout the festival, Hekima Village played a pivotal role in hosting insightful discussions and transformative dialogues on governance, ethical leadership, and gender equality. From exploring the intricacies of governance to addressing gender disparities, the village provided a platform for thought-provoking conversations and actionable insights. Notably, on Day 2, Hekima Village was merged with the Political Parties Village, accommodating popular demand by participants and allowing for discussions on necessary political reforms and the next steps.

4th Africa - Europe Youth Summit | Abidjan Youth Declaration X AU-EU Youth Plug-In Initiative Youth Agenda
The discussions during the AU-EU Summit were on 6 priority thematics: Business, Job Creation and Entrepreneurship; Education and Skills; Peace and Security; Governance and Political Inclusion; Climate and Environmental Preservation; and Culture, Sports and Arts, including 3 cross-cutting issues (gender equality, migration and digitalisation). The recommendations from the Youth Summit will provide inspiration and hopefully direction for the Africa-EU partnership in the years to come. The Youth Café fully supports the AU-EU Summit.
Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020
The objective of the bill is to amend the Constitution of Kenya to address issues arising from its implication, specifically the need to resolve issues of divisive election and promote gender equality in government; strengthen the structure of devolution and increase resource allocation to the counties, broaden mechanism for all the people of Kenya benefit from economic growth; harmonize certain roles and functions of the bicameral legislature; fortify national ethos by specifying the responsibilities of the citizens, and strengthen accountability on public resources and the fight against corruption.
