Launched in September 2023, the "Scam Slam" campaign is a testament to The Youth Cafe and Africa Check’s dedication to enhancing public awareness, especially among the youth. We believe equipping our youth with a solid understanding of financial literacy concepts is crucial. "Scam Slam" entails a variety of vital topics - from recognising and establishing one’s financial values, understanding the profound effects of advertising, and providing indispensable financial advice for young adults to shedding light on effective job-search strategies. More importantly, we've focused heavily on empowering individuals with the knowledge to recognise, avoid, and react appropriately to online scams and dubious financial information.

Story Bandia: A trend analysis for mis/disinformation. The forum was held on 6th December 2023 at Safari Club Hotel from 0800hrs to 1300hrs. Media monitoring is a key thematic area applied by the Election Observation Group (ELOG) to ensure that the media adheres to ethical practices while covering electoral-related issues. The Story Bandia trend analysis report represents a significant milestone in ELOG’s ongoing efforts to deter the spread of hate speech, misinformation and disinformation in the media. The findings and insights presented in the report underscore the critical importance of addressing hate speech, misinformation and disinformation in the media during the election period.

Global Philanthropy Forum 2023 | Confronting Orthodoxies: Evolving Mindsets

The Youth Cafe took part in the 2023 Global Philanthropy Forum conference, which focused on evolving mindsets and confronting orthodoxies in philanthropy. The program sought to engage in needed conversations but was not often conducted in a public forum. It sought roadmaps for funders to embed topics like accountability, localization and justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in their global work. The main items discussed in the meeting were citizens’ opinions on devolution practice, citizens’ support for devolution in Kenya, Citizen’s concerns about devolution, how government functions should be allocated between county and national government, budget allocation and its impact on society and public participation.

Launching The European Union Youth Empowerment Fund I Financial Support To Youth-Led Initiatives

The Youth Cafe participated in the Launching of the EU Youth Empowerment Fund Launch (YEF). YEF is the key flagship of the empowerment pillar of the Youth Action Plan in EU External Action (YAP). The YAP features flagships for the three pillars of the plan: engage, connect and empower. The YEF will be implemented as a pilot initiative worth €10 million that will provide direct financial support to youth-led initiatives in partner countries focusing on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level, in particular on environment and climate change and the inclusion of vulnerable and marginalised youth.

The event took place on the 15th of September, 2023 at the National Museum, Nairobi. The event aimed at raising awareness, encouraging citizen participation, and fostering discussions on democratic governance and its impact on society.

United Nations General Assembly Summit | Renewal Of The Multilateral System To Accelerate Development

The 75th anniversary of the UN came at a time when the world was confronting the shared threats of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, the risks and opportunities of technological advances, and the stagnation of the Sustainable Development Goals. In recognition of these trends and our unprecedented interconnectedness, Member States pledged to strengthen global governance and asked the Secretary-General for his recommendations to address current and future challenges. The Secretary-General responded with Our Common Agenda, calling for solidarity between people, countries and generations and a corresponding renewal of the multilateral system to accelerate the implementation of existing commitments and fill gaps in global governance that have emerged since 2015.
