Their contributions provided valuable insights into the multifaceted issues impacting ASAL women.
Human Rights and Democracy Festival 2023 | Freedom, Justice and Equality for All
On December 8, 2023, The Youth Cafe, collaborating with other partners, ForumCiv, Badili Africa, and Africa Uncensored, organised a national Human Rights celebration event at the Daystar University Auditorium on Valley Road, Nairobi, Kenya. The theme, "Navigating the Consequences of Economic Shocks on Human Rights: Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All," occurred from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This gathering drew a diverse audience of at least 300 participants, representing a cross-section of society, including youth, community members, persons with disabilities, and women.
Stakeholder Engagement Forum Between IEBC And Youth-led Organisations
Kenyan youth have been disconnected and disengaged with political processes and electoral participation, and this has caused widespread apathy among young voters. Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC is collaborating with youth serving organizations (YSO’s) to provide young people with a forum to fully and effectively deal with issues important to them during the electioneering period. The Youth Café is part of the Youth Coordinating Committee (YCC) working with the IEBC to drive voter education and enhance the voters registration drive.
Youth Excel Releases Global Gender and Inclusion Analysis
Youth Excel aims to advance gender equality by using research, learning, and data to change systems and transform norms, shifting power differentials so that diverse youth—including youth of all genders in different age categories—influence development agendas and development decision making. In late 2020, we conducted a Global GESI Analysis through desk research to (1) compile data and identify broad trends in line with Youth Excel’s work; (2) provide recommendations for Youth Excel activities.
Nairobi Statement on ICPD25: Accelerating the Promise | The Youth Cafe
This is the final version of the Nairobi Statement, formulated after six months of global consultations led by the International Steering Committee on ICPD25, with hundreds of organizations and thousands of people involved. The Nairobi Statement provides a global framework for the formulation of government and partner commitments. Since it is non-binding, countries and other stakeholders may choose to support the Nairobi Statement in its entirety, in part, or not at all. In no way does supporting the Nairobi Statement infringe upon national sovereignty
