This report is The Youth Cafe’s review of youth participation in 2022 General elections in Kenya. It builds on the previous reports by adding new data from the last two general elections, using age data from official electoral datasets., as well as other quantitative and qualitative data from 47 counties. The data is current as at 16 Jan 2023. Scholarly studies and information from interviews also helped provide a full picture of youth participation before, during and after elections in 2022. Key findings and examples of good practices on addressing youth under-representation are included throughout the report, as are recommendations for further action.
Report on The Youth Cafe and the United Nations Office Of The High Commissioner on Human Rights | Youth Engagement Session
On 25th May 2023, The Youth Cafe Collaborated with the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights Development and the Economic and Social Issues Branch (OHCHR DESIB) in a virtual Youth Engagement Session. This 90 minutes webinar session brought together youth from different countries and backgrounds in a dialogue to identify barriers to implementing economic, social and cultural rights and approaches to operationalize these rights as a framework for addressing local and global challenges, raising awareness of the young people across the world about economic, social and cultural rights; promote initiatives and diverse implications of the youth; and to strengthen the linkages between the youth-led organizations.
The European Youth Cards Association | Promoting Youth Participation
The European Youth Card Association (EYCA) has 40 member organizations in 38 countries. All are committed to promoting youth mobility and active citizenship for young people. EYCA member organizations believe that the young people they work with are not citizens of the future, they are citizens of Europe today and, as such, should be fully involved in decisions and developments that affect them. Member organizations develop and promote participation opportunities for young people – opportunities that give young people the chance to influence their communities, organizations at local and national levels, and what happens in society at large.

In regards to this, The Youth Cafe, in partnership with the Indonesia Youth Foundation, held a 3-day Kenya & Indonesia virtual Trans-cultural workshop; “Buddies Without Borders: Amplifying Cultures & Promoting Diversity,” objectified to Promote cultures and heritages of Indonesia and Kenya, Build mutual understanding and tolerance between Indonesian and Kenyan youths, Bridge overseas friendship and networking, Explore new cultural facets from the two countries (such as language, food, traditions, art, and fashion) and deepen the intercultural connection as well as Flourish diversity cross-cultural skills in a globalized world.
