The 2-day advocacy workshop was designed to be a hybrid event, offering both in-person and virtual participation options. The physical event was be hosted in Nairobi, Kenya, providing an opportunity for direct engagement and collaboration. The hybrid format enabled the inclusion of a broader audience, reaching youth, young women, and youth networks globally. The first day of the workshop marks a crucial step in the journey towards equipping young advocates with the necessary resources to drive meaningful change.

The Youth Cafe is developing a youth playback for AI in elections, with an emphasis on youth and AI literacy for all. The Youth Cafe is working together to ensure policy development and widespread education on AI. Customized educational content is required for young people. Catering to contextual realities such as local languages and methods of information dissemination. In addition, The Youth Cafe is partaking in processes leading up to the adoption of a Global Digital Compact is essential for consolidating worldwide scientific consensus on AI’s potential, risks, and challenges. Therefore, African youth should engage strategically with the “Governing AI for humanity” agenda which is being led by the United Nations (UN).
OGP Global Summit 2023 |
OGP Global Summits historically provide an opportunity for representatives of government, civil society, and others to exchange experiences, best practices, and progress on open government initiatives and implementation. This will be the 8th OGP Global Summit; previous Summits have been held in the Republic of Korea (2021), Canada (2019), Georgia (2018), France (2016), Mexico (2015), United Kingdom (2013), and Brazil (2012).
Youth Democracy Cohort Events
The Youth Political and Civic Engagement Cohort is one of the multi stakeholder platforms launched as part of the Year of Action after the first Summit for Democracy of December 2021.
Youth political involvement was not high on the agenda of the participating countries during the Summit for Democracy's early phases. According to the Democracy Dashboard, only six countries approved youth pledges during the first Summit for Democracy, which emphasized the importance of developing a strong and active group to place youth on the global democracy agenda.
Since its launch September 2022, the Cohort has gathered organisations from all continents to take meaningful action to implement the Summit for Democracy commitments on youth political participation through actions, resources, knowledge, research etc..
