The Participatory Budgeting Exchange (November 28 & 29, 2018) in Barcelona, Spain, brought together international experts and participatory budgeting implementers to identify and co-design opportunities across two thematic tracks:

Track 1: Participatory Budgeting Peer Exchange

This track will focus on generating and sharing ideas and tools to problem-solve common challenges experienced by PB implementers around the world.

Track 2: Global Design

This track will explore new frameworks and mechanisms to strengthen and coordinate global PB design, adoption, and advocacy.

The event happened right after IOPD 2018, the annual conference of the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy. IOPD 2018 gathered leading global experts and practitioners on issues of direct democracy, citizens’ initiative, and inclusive participation ecosystems—insights and participants then informed discussions at Participatory Budgeting Exchange.
