On the 29th of November, 2021, the Executive Director of The Youth Café, Willice Onyango will be speaking at a forum organized by Engage Jamii Initiatives in partnership with the US Embassy in Nairobi.
The program will focus on the “Role of Youth and Women in Peaceful Election Campaigns” in Kenya. The audience will be approximately 50 youth and women leaders pre-selected from hotspots regions of Mombasa and over 100 online participants from the civil society, youth & women leaders, security forces, and media.
The Youth Café as a youth-led and youth serving organization works with young men and women in Kenya and around Africa to advance youth-led approaches toward achieving sustainable development, social equity, innovative solutions, community resilience, and transformative change.
The Youth Café is able to engage with youth and marginalized populations through various projects. Some of the marginalized sections of youth The Youth Café works with include youth living with disability, youth living in informal settlements, young women and girls, minority youth, indigenous youth, among others. The Youth Café is honored to be a part of such an esteemed panel to share the youth perspective on how to promote peaceful election campaigns in light of the upcoming 2022 general elections.
The program is part of the Engage Jamii program of activity aimed at conflict prevention and resolution, increasing youth participation in decision-making through training, art competitions, focus group discussions and media outreach.
