Global Health Journalism Award | Bill &Melinda Gates Foundation

The programme “Global Health Journalism Grants for Germany” is a project operated by the European Journalism Centre (EJC). The grant programme, worth a total of €375,000, aims to advance creative reporting approaches, enabling a better coverage of international health, health policy and development related issues in German media.

The European Journalism Centre will award around 25 stipends to freelance and staff journalists in the course of this programme.

This project is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project rewards quality journalism and advances a new and distinctive agenda for development coverage on health topics through the award of funding to a selection of state-of-the-art reporting projects of great impact and high visibility.

From 2016 to early 2019, the EJC has been running a similar Global Health Journalism Grants Programme for Germany, with 29 projects funded. Equally, a Global Health Journalism Grants Programme for France was launched in spring of 2018 with 10 awarded projects. The French programme is being renewed with a new call launched simultaneously.
