Launched by CRI and UNESCO on 24 January 2020, the International Day of Education, with the mission to "Inspire & empower learners of all ages to contribute to better futures”. Aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations, that can serve as a framework to engage in meaningful projects and work towards a better future, #LearningPlanet focuses on SDG 4: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning for all”, the key lever to achieve a profound transformation of our societies in the coming years.
#LearningPlanet is an open alliance bringing together under a shared banner educational stakeholders from around the world to disseminate the best ideas, on a local and global scale, for helping learners to collectively address the unprecedented challenges of our time.
#LearningPlanet defines itself as a middle-ground: it connects institutions with grassroots movements and innovators to scale up their ideas. As such, with the spirit of attentive gardeners, LearningPlanet is developing a range of innovative approaches to:
- create, map and disseminate collective problem-solving pedagogies;
- develop partnerships with local spaces, regional hubs and online communities;
- participate in on-the-ground educational projects;
- design and implement digital solutions supporting open and participatory research, innovative learning strategies and the sharing of resources;
- orchestrate global and local events to celebrate learning and nurture a culture of hope and engagement.*
