Advancing digital media literacy is a necessary step towards better decision making after receiving information. It is particularly important when relating digital information to civic reasoning and engagement for young people in Kenya.
As much as digital media has brought more opportunities to collaborate with others, it has also brought a lot of challenges on determining authenticity of information. We live at an opportune time where anyone can share any information widely. This is especially true for Kenya as a leading country in Africa on digital media.
The Youth Cafe is conducting the third Focus group Discussion on 13th May 2021 at 12.00pm. This is a guided discussion on digital media literacy and related topics aiming at understanding the thoughts and associations of youths in Kenya in light of political participation. In the previous discussions, topics such as hate speech, social bullying, fake news, death by twitter, pseudo accounts and propaganda have come up.
All these topics point to the need for training when navigating the social space. Join this discussion by signing up here!
